In orbital riveting machine riveting tool is attached to a Spindle via riveting tool adaptor. Riveting force is generated by pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder. The rotary motion of riveting tool is achieved by electrical motor.
The spindle along with rotating riveting tool advances while riveting. The riveting tool stops it’s rotating as soon as it touches the material to be formed. The gentle forming of material takes place because of orbital action generated by inclined riveting tool and axial force of head. After competing desired forming the riveting tool retracts to its home position. In this orbital riveting an orbiting tool held at a slight fixed angel (typically 3 to 6 degrees) is used to progressively move malleable material into a desired predetermined shape.
Due to the mechanical advantage of inclination of riveting tool only 10-20 % of the force of any conventional riveting process is required.
Because riveting tool do not rotate there is never problem of heating in orbital riveting machines. In orbital riveting machines riveting tool has only line of contact with riveting material.
Many riveting equipment applications of joining parts together become optimal because of these unique orbital riveting machines. Both pressure & orbital action is applied in these orbital riveting machines.
This orbital forming provides choice of non rotating joining as well as rotating joining. Rotating joining can be controlled very precisely as per desired resistance in swivel ball joints.
Different desired shapes are possible by deforming material using orbital riveter.
Sometimes orbital riveting process is called spinning, spin riveting, peening or radial riveting, taumel riveting machines. Orbital riveting machines can do minimum 0.5mm to maximum riveting of 38 mm of mild steel rivet.
We at Prash Machines provide free facility of riveting trials for accurate & practical conclusion.
